Small Organization Support (SOS)
Grant Program
- Background: A main part of FACA ’s mission is to improve methods
and standards of animal control and protection programs throughout Florida. FACA recognizes that many small animal
control and protection agencies have very limited financial resources to apply to improvement efforts. Therefore,
through efforts such as silent auctions at the Annual Educational Conferences, FACA has developed a Small Shelter Support Fund for the purpose of providing financial
grants to qualifying member organizations to assist them in some improvement effort/initiative.
- Eligibility: In order to be eligible
for the Small Organization Support grants, an organization must:
- Be an Animal Control Agency Member of FACA in good standing;
- Conduct animal control operations;
- Have ten or fewer employees; and
- Submit an application for grant consideration not later than October 15 of the
year in which they hope to receive the grant. (See application)
- Procedures: General: Member organizations
who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to apply for a grant of any amount up to $300 for use in their efforts
to improve some aspect of their shelter operation. The grants are intended for use in funding something that would
otherwise go unfunded – that is, the grants will not be made for routine operating budget expenses such as food
or cleaning supplies. Rather as examples, things such as additional reference books, equipment, raccoon
trap, stainless steel water bowls, etc. might qualify under the grant criteria.
Submit requests for consideration in the format on the application.
- Review: The Grant Review Committee,
will:
- determine if the requests are eligible;
- rank the requests as to most benefit for the dollars expended; and
- determine which of the requests will be submitted for approval by the FACA Board
of Directors.
- Announcement: At the November
Annual Educational Conference Awards
Dinner, the FACA President will announce the grant recipient(s) for that year.
