WELCOME TO FACA IN 2008!
FACA continues to expand and improve its member services, and your commitment for 2008 will help us do even
more. FACA is the only source for up-to-date information on state laws relating to animals, trends in enforcement
and sheltering, and is recognized as the ESF-17 coordinating body for hurricane relief efforts.
FACA’s legislative agenda includes edits to Chapter 828 to expand ACO certification and continuing education, improving
the dangerous dog statutes and preventing microchip rules that limit accessibility. FACA has hired a professional
governmental liaison to greatly enhance our impact in Tallahassee.
FACA evaluates and strengthens its certifications courses regularly to assure that those who achieve FACA certification
can count on their credential. FACA is mandated by state law to approve the ACO curriculum and has the only state-approved
euthanasia certification course.
FACA’s communication, with its broadcast email, quarterly newsletter FACA TRAX and regularly-updated website, assures
relevant member-provided information and resources, aiding in strong networking and peer problem-solving. FACA
members regularly share their best forms, signs, press releases, and policies to save duplication of effort by
other FACA members through the password-protected section of www.floridaanimalcontrol.org.
Our dues formula has not changed. We want FACA to represent every employee of every animal control agency in Florida.
For 2007, your dues are based upon the number of employees you have on a sliding scale; the more employees you
have, the less per person you will invest for your FACA dues. Each of your employees becomes a full-fledged voting
FACA member, eligible for all FACA benefits and services.
We still offer a special dues category for our smaller agencies. Agencies of five or less employees will renew
at the flat fee of $70 for an Organizational Membership, with the designated head of agency as the voting member
and only contact person to receive FACA communication. An e-mail address for the designated representative is
essential to our ability to keep in close contact with your agency. Special services such as the Small Organization
Support (SOS) Grants make this category of membership even more valuable.
New this year is a subcription opportunity for government leaders. Agencies have asked for the ability to share
the TRAX with county/city commissioners, county/city managers, emergency management and related department heads.
FACA offers the suscription at just $5.00 per year.
FACA is the ONLY organization dedicated to the needs of Florida's animal control/protection profession. We
would be proud to serve you in 2008.
FACA deserves your support.
