A.C.O. Certification
On January 1, 1990 an initial mandatory certification program for County Animal Control Officers became effective.
This training requires the successful completion of a 40 hour curriculum training approved by FACA, before ACO's
can issue citations for ordinance violations, as outlined in Florida State Statute 828.27.
Florida State Statute 828.58 requires 16 hours of euthanasia training
before any person can euthanize dogs and cats. Currently FACA has several instructors
who are authorized to conduct this training. Contact the FACA office to make arrangements for a certified instructor
to conduct the training and for costs of materials.
FACA Certification Instructors
Florida State Statute 828.27 requires 16 hours of Chemical Capture
Immobilization training before any person can use tranquilizer equipment. FACA has certified several instructors
for this training and plans on certifying more. Contact the FACA office to make arrangements for a certified instructor
to conduct the training and for the cost of materials.
